Key Benefits

  • In-depth, detailed exploration and discussion of the most important issues for your instrumental group or section, with hands-on work from examples in these areas.
  • Same as above for common practices and pitfalls for your instrumental group or section.
  • The mind - the most important factor affecting the performance of any ensemble - perspective on how you can use it to your best advantage.

Capabilities

Ensemble thinking
To be an effective ensemble member, one must adopt an "ensemble" attitude.
Listening and hearing ("it's all in the ear")
The primary key to mastering the ensemble role -- the why and how.
The whole is more important than its individual parts
The sound of the section is more important than the sound of any individual player, likewise the sound of the ensemble is more important than that of any individual section.  The world's greatest soloists and ensemble players would stand behind me in this assertion, every one.  We'll explore why.
